Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about choosing, sizing, replacing, and ordering AirPurete air filters.

Below are answers to the questions we hear most often. If you don't find what you're looking for, email us at sales@airpurete.com and we'll be glad to help.

What MERV rating should I choose?

It depends on your system and priorities. MERV 8 suits everyday residential filtration, MERV 11 is a step up for finer particles, and MERV 13 captures the smallest particles of the three. Higher MERV ratings add more airflow resistance, so choose one your HVAC system is designed to handle. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll help you decide.

How often should I replace my air filter?

It varies with filter type, usage, and conditions. Many 1-inch residential filters are changed every one to three months, while thicker or commercial filters can last longer. Check the filter regularly and replace it when it looks loaded with dust or airflow noticeably drops, following your equipment manufacturer's guidance where available.

What is the difference between MERV 8, MERV 11, and MERV 13?

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, ASHRAE 52.2) describes how effectively a filter captures particles across a range of sizes. MERV 8 captures larger particles such as dust and lint, MERV 11 adds finer particles, and MERV 13 captures the smallest particles of the three. Higher ratings generally mean finer filtration but greater airflow resistance.

How do I find the correct filter size?

The nominal size (for example, 16x25x1) is usually printed on the frame of your current filter. If it isn't listed, measure the length, width, and depth and match those dimensions. If you'd like help matching a size, contact us with your measurements.

Does AirPurete offer custom filter sizes?

Yes. Alongside standard sizes, custom sizes are available for many of our filter types. Contact us with your requirements and we'll share the available options.

Do you offer residential and commercial filters?

Do you offer replacement filters for other brands?

Often, yes — filters are usually matched by size and type rather than brand. Send us the dimensions and specifications of the filter you currently use and we'll help identify a suitable option.
